What is a party bike?

The Tour De Tavern is literally a giant bike for you and a group of people to ride on. 6 people pedal on each side while there is room for up to 2 people to sit on the back seat. While you and your friends enjoy drinking and/or socializing with each other and pedaling, our Tour De Tavern driver is responsible for all steering and breaking. The driver also enforces all rules on board. The bike has a top speed of 5-8 MPH depending how fast everyone pedals and obeys all traffic laws.

After seeing this concept abroad in Europe, our co-founders knew they had discovered something special. Wanting to bring this awesome group activity concept to Arizona, they set out determined to engineer the ‘Tour de Tavern’ – a version of their own perfect pub on wheels of the highest quality materials and craftsmanship. There are (4) Tour de Tavern bikes each customized and carefully handcrafted by the co-founders themselves. They are stylish, safe, functional, and kept in the best condition. And they each come equipped with the following amenities to enjoy during your tour:

  • Built in mega-cooler to keep bottled water cold during the ride
  • Safe storage racks minimizing the risk of purses, party favors, snacks or any other personal possessions getting broken, lost or stolen. Tour de Tavern is not responsible for any items lost, broken, or stolen, but we do our best to avoid this.
  • Supreme sound system connecting the playlists on your MP3 player or smart phone to the built in speakers on the bike.
  • Adjustable and cushioned seats ensuring a smooth, comfortable ride fitted for each individual on two of the vehicles.
  • Custom interior and exterior lighting creating a warm, inviting and photogenic ambiance.
Alcohol & Food
Yes & Yes! We are very excited to announce that Tour De Tavern now welcomes you to B.Y.O.B…O.B. – meaning you can now bring your own beverages on board and enjoy them during the ride! We also invite you to bring any snacks and non-alcoholic beverages you wish. We have a cooler for water and room for you to bring an additional cooler to keep your food and alcoholic beverages cold. We only ask that you don’t bring along any glass containers. The law requires that all alcoholic beverages be consumed from plastic “red solo” cups. You’re welcome to bring your own or buy some from us when you arrive.

Don’t have time to make a beer run before your tour? Our home base, The Brat Haus, sells beer and wine to go and offers Tour de Tavern packages that include a cooler with the wine and beer you select. Ask us how this works if you’re interested!

In addition to enjoying drinks while you and your group peddle onward, we’ve partnered with the most popular hot spots in Old Town to get you exclusive drink specials at a majority of our stops along the route. Check out our homepage for a list of the locations and specials reserved just for our riders!

Inappropriate Behavior = Not Cool
Tour De Tavern is a truly unique experience; everyone has fun, many pictures are taken, good memories are made, and no one gets hurt in the process. We care about your safety and the affect we have on our local community and culture. Therefore, we implore our customers to simply be adults and refrain from inappropriate behavior. Not doing so will result in an early termination of your tour as well as a $200 penalty charge. Examples are:

  • Extreme intoxication
  • Excessive noise
  • Littering, engaging in physical altercations, verbal abuse or extremely loud/consistent foul language meant harmfully
  • Pushing another rider, public urination, attempting to jump on or off of the bike while in motion, and throwing anything from the bike

The driver of your tour exercises full discretion on what is deemed inappropriate behavior, but basically just remember this… if you have fun, know your limits, follow our rules and act like (fun loving) adults – all will be good.
Your Tour De Tavern questions answered.

Can we drink alcohol on the Tour de Tavern?
Yep! Although we don’t serve or sell alcohol, you’re welcome to bring your own ‘roadies’ for the ride. You can bring your own cooler to keep your drinks cold, so B.Y.O.B.! Just make sure all of your beverages are in either metal or plastic containers, as glass is not permitted.

Who can drink on the Tour de Tavern?
Any person who is at least 21 years of age can enjoy drinking while they ride around. We do check every attendee’s ID.

What is the cost breakdown for a tour?
Only $16 per seat per hour, if you book one of our awesome party bike tours!

What if I get hurt? Do you have insurance?
We do have insurance for our bikes. However, the risk of getting hurt on one of these bikes is lower than driving your car daily.

What is your cancellation policy?
Your tour is officially reserved upon receipt of payment. Tours do run rain or shine, unless there are extreme weather conditions that are out of our control.

If you cancel within 30 or more days prior to your tour, you will receive a 50% refund OR rain check to tour on a different date (good for 90 days).

If you cancel within 14-29 days prior to your tour, you will receive a rain check to tour on a different date (good for 90 days).

If you cancel within 14 days or less prior to your tour, you will not receive a refund or rain check.

What if my group is late, or we damage the bike?
Be sure to avoid returning late to the bike, where your driver will be waiting, at each stop. This is because any time a group is late, all tours booked for the rest of that day will run late. This can lead to lost tours and unhappy customers for us. And as you can see, we don’t have many unhappy customers – we’d like to keep it that way.

  • If you are 15-20 minutes late, a fee of $55 will be charged.
  • If you are 21-25 minutes late, a fee of $70 will be charged.
  • If you are 26-30 minutes late, a fee of $85 will be charged.
  • If you are 31-59 minutes late, a fee of $200 will be charged.
  • If you are more than an hour late, a fee of $250 will be charged per hour.

You’ll also want to make sure that your group doesn’t damage anything on the bike while they’re riding (i.e. carving in the wood, kicking or denting the metal, etc.). For any damage to the bike by your group, we will charge you the cost of the repair to fix it.

What if we never return to the bike?
If the tour is abandoned, a charge of $500 will be applied.

Does Tour de Tavern sell any beverages or food?
No, however riders can bring any permissible food and beverages they wish. We have plenty of storage inside our roof rack and in our cooler.

How many people can fit on the Tour de Tavern?
The Tour de Tavern carries up to 14 people total including our driver. There are 6 pedaling seats on each side, and up to 2 people can enjoy sitting on the rear bench seat without pedaling.

What if it’s cold, rainy, or windy the day of my reservation?
The Tour de Tavern operates rain or shine. However if severe weather does occur, (i.e. Lightning Warning or Haboob) Tour De Tavern reserves the right to cancel the tour and will offer you a rain check for another date. We also offer a rain check if the tour has to be canceled due to weather within the first hour of the tour.

What if our tour takes too long?
You may be charged a late fee if you are unable to get back the bike back to the finish area within 15 minutes of the scheduled finish time. The time it takes to complete a tour is completely up to the people pedaling as the driver does not pedal. All routes have been test pedaled by our staff so we know roughly how long each route takes. (Please note any traffic or other situation out of our control with be taken into consideration in determining any late fees).

Do you provide a driver for the Tour De Tavern?
Yes, a trained Tour de Tavern driver will always be responsible for steering and breaking. Our insurance requires it.

Who can’t ride Tour De Tavern?
There is a minimum height requirement of 5’ or taller and a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds for each person pedaling on a seat. However, if someone does face either of these limitations, our rear bench seat is the perfect place to relax, encourage your pedalers, and enjoy the Tour De Tavern.

All pub-crawl rides require all participants be at least 21 or over, and provide proper identification. Family tours require all passengers to be at least 14 years old and accompanied by a legal guardian or parent at all times.

Who’s in charge of the Tour De Tavern?
# 1: The driver. The driver has the final word when it comes to safety and what constitutes proper conduct. If you act in any way s/he deems inappropriate or unsafe s/he will ask you to get off and find a way home.

#2: The renter. As you can imagine, with so many people on one bike the driver can and will only listen to the person whose credit card is on file with Tour de Tavern.

What’s the liability waiver for, and do you offer helmets?
With anything of this nature, you should have a reasonable expectation that there is always the possibility of a fall or injury. The waiver essentially means that you take full responsibility for all risks associated with riding on the Tour De Tavern.

Yes, We do offer bike helmets, but it’s completely up to you if you want to wear one.

When and how do I pay for my trip on the Tour De Tavern?
You pay when you book the tour. The tour is “confirmed” once you receive an email from us confirming the booking. Payment types accepted are: Debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

If you wish to pay cash: First the tour will be charged to your credit card. When you arrive the day of your tour, the full amount will be collected once again with cash and your credit card will be refunded the full amount.

Does the Tour De Tavern operate year round?

What are the hours of operation?
Hours of operation will generally start no earlier than 9am and end by 11pm. However we are open to working with you to meet your needs so please don’t hesitate to ask!

What is the minimum number of people needed to pedal the Tour De Tavern?
We recommend a minimum of 8 (4 pedalers per side). Although it is possible with less, we don’t recommend it unless you want a really good workout!

Can Tour De Tavern provide additional pedalers to help power our group?
Yes, but we need to know in advance when you book. You will incur an additional $25 per hour, per pedaler, for the entire tour.

How fast is the Tour De Tavern?
No very fast, but we can guarantee it will be the most fun that you’ll ever have traveling at speeds between 5-7mph on flat ground.

Can the Tour De Tavern go up hills?
Yes, but only small ones. Any hill with a grade greater than 3-4% for any distance will more than likely force some of the riders to have to get off and push. Luckily Old Town Scottsdale has very few hills!

Can I design my own route for my Tour De Tavern trip?
Yes, we are open to specialized routes. If the route makes sense and we can safely operate, we will work to accommodate your request.

Does the Tour De Tavern have music?
Absolutely! Bring your smart phone or MP3 player to listen to your favorite music. If you forget, you can listen to our music selection. We have good taste… we think.

Can I use the Tour De Tavern to promote/advertise my business or event?
Yes! Just give us a call or send us an email. The Tour de Tavern draws a lot of attention and pictures, and operates almost on the daily during the cool winter months. It is a great platform to advertise on, and we can work with any designer or printer to put your brand and message on any of our 5 bikes. Or all of them!
